Exactly why is game dialogue and game copy generally so bad? Since it is the final factor that developers consider leaks database. First comes the idea, then your engine, then your action and also the aesthetic and lastly, should there be some cash remaining, comes the writing.

Being an ex-TV author this appears essentially screwed in my experience. In TV the idea is presented lower like a treatment or a number of scene breakdowns. The scripts get wiped off these documents. Days pass before an actress will get to determine a script, several weeks before cameras become involved. The script may be the bible document. All decisions get made according to that script.

Why does not this happen hanging around industry, or perhaps in the academic software and application industry?

You will find hoards of scriptwriters available. Scriptwriting courses in Nz churn them out each year, through the tens, through the hundreds. Scriptwriting graduates emerge well experienced within the principals of film making, acquainted with the guidelines and rules of TV writing, and completely unaware of the requirements of game writing.

Does anybody educate scriptwriting for games in Nz? Not too I possibly could find. Exist such courses overseas somewhere...america, Europe, Osaka...anywhere?

Bizarre thinking about that gaming may be the largest entertainment industry now...and that is excluding the field of apps. Sure, the types of storytelling are very different, but whether you are telling the storyplot of the rogue barbarian, or even the mission statement of the social media site for dog enthusiasts, you should know what you are doing.

No-a person's teaching so no-one learns how. Because no-one knows how those who make games and apps put conntacting the foot of the pile. What else would they do? You cannot make something important when there is no-one around to achieve that something correctly. And since game and application writing is at the end from the pile there's not that lots of jobs around.
